AFCON 2025: Algeria, Morocco Battle Nigeria For Hosting Right

Algeria and Morocco will rival Nigeria and Benin Republic in a bid to secure the hosting right of the 2025 nations cup.

The Confederation of African Football, CAF, on Sunday, stripped Guinea of the right to host the event as a result of lack of quality infrastructure and facilities.

Following this development, the ex-Nigeria Football Federation president, Amaju Melvin Pinnick, recently noted that Nigeria and Benin republic are willing to secure the hosting right of the football tournament.

But Nigeria and Benin now have stiff regional competition from two North African countries to host the event.

Algeria, which last hosted the tournament in 1990, will bid to host the event in the coming days as stated by Algerian Minister of Youth and Sports, Abderrazak Sebgag.

In a statement carried out by APS, the state’s news agency, on Monday said, “It is time for Algeria to organize major events.

“We are going to present a good file to organize the African Cup of Nations 2025.”
