AFCON Qualifier: 13 Hours After, Super Eagles Still Held Hostage By Libyan Authority

More than 13 hours after the Super Eagles arrived Al-Abaq Airport, the team is still held hostage by the Libyan authority.

Osun Defender reports that the Libyan authorities on Sunday night, held the Super Eagles hostage at the Al-Abaq Airport.

According to the Super Eagles media officer, Promise Efoghe, the team’s chartered aircraft was approaching its destination in Benghazi before it was diverted to another city, more than a two-hour drive from the original base.

Giving an update around 6:30a.m on Monday, Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface took to his X handle to express the team’s frustration at the situation.

He wrote, “Been at the airport for almost 13 hours no food no wifi no where to sleep African we can do better”

The players and their officials left Nigeria for the North African country on Sunday morning.
