The Pan Yoruba social cultural group, Afenifere, last Tuesday suspended the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the last Osun governorship poll, Senator Iyiola Omisore.
The group in reference to Osun governorship poll, said the ex-deputy governor acted at variance with its directive.
Inside sources within Afenifere told OSUN DEFENDER that the group wanted Omisore to support PDP candidate in the poll, Senator Ademola Adeleke.
It was also learnt that Pa Ayo Adebanjo, on behalf of the group, met with Senator Omisore to secure his support for PDP.
The group, however, after its meeting in Akure, Ondo state capital, announced Omisore’s suspension through Pa Reuben Fasoranti.
But reacting, Omisore described as unfair the suspension slammed against him by the group without listening to his side of the story.
Omisore said: “Acting at variance? Osun SDP passed a resolution to coalesce with APC.
“Osun SDP members are not affiliate of Afenifere. Politics is local, so I acted in consonance with the position and will of Osun SDP.
“I’m yet to be informed, if so, Afenifere bypassed principle of fair hearing. I wasn’t given any directives, it might be oversight on Afenifere’s part or assumptions.”
