Afonta To Be Buried In Osogbo

Sheik Abdulwahab Banni Afonta, who died earlier today, will be buried at his residence in Osogbo, Osun State, OSUN DEFENDER gathered.

Afonta was an indigene of Ilorin who spent his lifetime in Osogbo where he established Arabic schools and mosques.

OSUN DEFENDER learnt that the late cleric is survived by his father who had insisted that his remains should be taken to Ilorin for burial.

According to sources, prominent indigenes of Ilorin had also wanted the late scholar to be buried in his home town.

But some Muslim leaders in Osogbo and other parts of the South-West prevailed on the Ilorin stakeholders to allow them bury Sheik Abdulwahab Banni in Osogbo.

Sources said a delegation from the Emir of Ilorin were on their way to Osogbo to finalie discussion on the time to bury the late scholar.
