After Kwara Attack, Adeleke Tightens Security In Osun Border Communities
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state has ordered heightened security across border communities following the terror attack in neighbouring Kwara state.
The governor also expressed condolences to the government and people of Kwara state over the attack on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama LGA, describing the incident as a painful tragedy.
In a statement he made on Friday on his X page, Adeleke said Osun would continue to monitor developments closely and work with security agencies to prevent a spillover of violence into the state.
“I am deeply saddened by the reports of the mass killing of innocent Nigerians in Woro and Nuku communities of Kaiama. On behalf of the Government, and people of Osun State, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the Government, and people of Kwara State over this painful tragedy,” the governor said.
He added that residents of Osun shared in the grief of the affected communities.
“The people of Osun stand in solidarity with Kwara at this difficult time. We mourn with the bereaved families and pray that Almighty God grants them the strength to bear this irreparable loss, while healing those who sustained injuries,” Adeleke said.
The governor noted that the state government had intensified security operations around its border areas to forestall any escalation of violence.
“Osun remains committed to regional cooperation, proactive security measures, and the full deployment of lawful structures necessary to secure our people across the grassroots,” he added.
Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has ordered the deployment of troops to “checkmate the barbaric terrorists and protect defenceless communities” in Kwara.
