Nigerian sprint hurdler and 2022 World Champion, Tobi Amusan, delivered a commanding performance at the Rabat Diamond League on Sunday, clinching victory in the women’s 100m hurdles with a new meet record of 12.45 seconds.

Amusan’s blistering time erased the previous record of 12.51 seconds set by American Brianna McNeal in 2018, reaffirming her elite status in the sport. Her run also marked a season’s best (SB), as she dominated the field from start to finish in a race held just before the main broadcast.

Trailing her was the Netherlands’ Nadine Visser, who clocked 12.67s (SB) to place second, while Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska secured third with a season’s best of 12.69s.

Other notable finishes came from Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji (12.71s SB), Italy’s Giada Carmassi (12.81s PB), Elena Carraro (12.89s), USA’s Destiny Huven (12.93s), France’s Sacha Alessandrini (12.96s SB), and Austria’s Karin Strametz (13.08s SB). The race recorded a legal wind reading of +1.2m/s.

Amusan’s stellar outing sends a strong message ahead of the Olympics season, reinforcing her readiness to contend for global honours once again
