Again, Corps Members Left In Limbo, Receive N33k Allowance Despite DG’s Promise
Despite promises by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) that corps members will start receiving the increased monthly allowance of N77,000 starting February 2025, the Federal Government paid the old N33,000 stipend.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, in January, announced that payment of ₦77,000 to corps members will begin in February 2025.
The NYSC DG, while speaking to the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members in Katsina State, confirmed that the increment, which has been approved by the Federal Government and included in the 2025 budget, will take effect once the budget is passed.
“The Federal Government has already approved the increment of your allowance. It is no longer news; what we have the approval in our hands. What we are waiting for is just the passage of the budget.
“This month (January) has already ended, but once the budget is passed, by next month (February), you will start receiving N77,000 instead of the usual N33,000,” he said.
