KILLINGS and other violent activities of cultists have continued unabated in Ilesa, leading to the death of no fewer than 15 people between January and yesterday, March 10, 2022.
Investigations by OSUN DEFENDER revealed that in spite of the intervention of security operatives and public outcry by residents of Ilesa, cultists have not ceased from terrorising the town.
The medium gathered that while some members of the public believed that the violent clashes between cult groups in Ilesa had been laid to rest, the cultists have continued to kill one another.
But the killings are not reported as the previous ones.
OSUN DEFENDER gathered that the cultists struck again on Wednesday and killed one person known as Omoga at roundabout in Ilesa.
According to some residents of Ilesa, Omoga was hacked to death around 9pm by some cultists who waylaid him at roundabout.
Omoga, it was gathered, was a ‘hard guy’ who was known by many people in Ilesa.
However, none of the residents could confirm if Omoga was a cultist or not.
One of the residents who spoke with OSUN DEFENDER said: “Omoga was a ‘street guy’. Everybody knows him to be a hard guy, but I can’t say he was a cultist. This is because when the clashes between Afe and Eiye cult groups started, all the cultists left Ilesa for safety. But Omoga was around, he did not go anywhere. I was surprised when I was told he was killed on Wednesday.”
The medium also gathered that another person was shot by suspected cultists yesterday around 8am at Oke-Ola in Ilesa.
According to sources, the victim was shot on the head and hand by some young men who rode on motorcycle.
It was gathered that the wife of the victim rushed him to an undisclosed hospital.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Osun Command, Mrs Yemisi Opalola, was not available for comment.
