FOR the second term in two months, gunmen again laid siege to Oranmiyan House, the political office of the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
The gunmen, who were about five in number, according to eye witnesses, sprayed the building and the transformer outside with bullets.
It would be recalled that some gunmen had on November 18, 2021, attacked members of the APC who were holding meeting inside the building.
OSUN DEFENDER gathered that the armed hoodlums stormed the building around 5:10pm yesterday and ordered the passengers in front of the building to vacate before they started firing gunshots at it.
One of the occupants of the building who identified himself as Jamiu Kabiru, said the gunmen threw petrol-soaked bread inside the building and on the canopies in the compound in an attempt to set the building ablaze.
According to Kabiru, the hoodlums also concentrated their gunshot on the transformer that supply electricity to the building to trigger power surge with intension to get the building burnt.
When OSUN DEFENDER visited the building around 5:40pm, sympathisers and members of the APC who are supporters of Aregbesola had gathered, reining curses on Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, accusing him of masterminding the attack.
The medium saw a burnt canopy, expended bullets and three burnt breads.
The glasses of the building were also shattered by gunshots.
It was gathered that the gunmen left the building after 15 minutes of gunshots. They were reportedly conveyed by a waiting bus at the opposite side of the building.
The eye witnesses suspected that the gunmen had their accomplices among the commercial transporters who are operating at a garage opposite the building.
The attack came about two hours after the APC members had concluded their meeting at the place.
The meeting was held amidst tight security.
Some policemen and officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were drafted to the area when the news of the attack filtered into the town.
After some minutes, OSUN DEFENDER gathered that a suspected thug came into the building from the motor park at the other side and started unleashing punches on people.
According to some people that witnessed the incident, the suspected hoodlum was overpowered by the people who handed him over to the police.
The hoodlum was said to be shouting “Asiri-Eniba, Asiri-Eniba’ when he was arrested by the police.
However, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Wale Olokode, visited the building after the incident and had discussion with some people there.
The incident paralysed commercial activities in the area as the people scampered for safety.
