As part of efforts geared towards boosting the Agricultural sector in the State of Osun, a non governmental organisation, Ilerioluwa Development Initiative, has begun the disbursement of first batch of loans to women farmers in the State.
Speaking during the flag off of the distribution of cheque to benefiting women farmers in the state, the First lady of the State who also doubles as the President of the Initiative, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola said the loan was aimed towards increasing the production of agricultural produce in the State.
Mrs Oyetola further stated that the beneficiaries of the loan was drawn on equal basis from the three senatorial zones of the State .
She reiterated the commitment of the NGO towards improving the agricultural sector in Osun in a way that would diversify the economy of the State.
The first lady added that the steps taken by the NGO would also reduce the menace of poverty and also transform the State to a efficient producer of food, thereby creating prosperity for actors in the selected field.
She urged the beneficiaries to use the loan given to them judiciously.
Also speaking, the Chairman, All Farmer Association Of Nigeria, State of Osun Chapter, Mr Kayode Afolabi said the NGO support would go a long way in strengthening food production and eradicating poverty in the State.
