Airport Relocation: Ido-Osun Community Accuses Gov Adeleke Of Nepotism, Vow To Resist Agenda

 

The Ido-Osun community in Osun State has expressed outraged over the state government’s decision to relocate the Ido-Osun Airport to Ede, the hometown of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

The community has accused the governor of nepotism and favoritism, alleging that the decision is a clear case of bias towards Ede and its paramount ruler, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal.

According to reports, the airport project, which has been ongoing since 1936, has already received over N20 billion in funding from past governments. The community is demanding that the project be completed in Ido-Osun, rather than being relocated to Ede.

The Osun State Government has defended the decision, stating that the relocation is necessary for the development of the state.

However, the Ido-Osun community remains unconvinced, accusing the government of ignoring their concerns and interests..

The community listed their grievances, which include the renaming of the airport, the installation of a Baalè in their town, and the use of guns to chase farmers away from their land.

In a statemrnt jointly signed by the President Ido-Osun Development Union, Elder T.A Adeleye and Secretary Ido Youth Forum, Akano Kamorudeen, the community has vowed to resist “evil and insensitive agenda” with all their might, and have called on the government to prioritize the welfare and development of all communities in Osun State, without bias or favoritism.

The community also urged President Tinubu to look into the matter, as it could degenerate into a communal clash considering the previous action of Ede town against Ido-Osun.
