I received with shock but submission to the will of Allah the report of the demise of the Asiwaju of Osogboland, Chief Ajadi Abdulfatai Adekilekun Badmus. Chief Badmus was a great indigene of Osogbo who spent his lifetime for the development of the city. He was a household name in Osogbo, famous far and near for his piety, philanthropy, and acts of kindness. He was a devout Muslim who contributed to the advancement of Islam by building mosques and supporting Islamic programmes.

A progressive at heart, he was one of the leaders in the state who identified with our progressive cause and supported my governorship ambition. He never ceased to be my adviser until his departure. I will eternally cherish his friendship, love, and good disposition towards me. He was a father to all and always stood by the truth.

His death is a colossal loss to everyone who cherishes and stands by the truth. Osogbo has lost a selfless progressive and community leader.

I commiserate with his family, the Ataoja, and the good people of Osogbo for this indescribably painful loss. May God grant them the fortitude to bear this immense loss. May Allah accept his return, forgive his sins, and admit him to Aljanah Firdaus.
