Food, culture and people cannot be separated and the making of healthy and delicious food is essential in any culture not only in Africa but globally.
Prior to the time African interacted with other culture, women had been saddled with the making of healthy and tasty food for their homes and this forms the basic pre-requisite for any maiden preparing to graduate to womanhood to know that the fastest way to a man’s heart is through his stomach to be stuff with sweet delicacy and healthy food.
According to the Managing Director of Ajinomoto Group in Nigeria Junichi Nki during the management courtesy call on the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, in the ancient city of Ile-Ife, the group was founded with the aspiration of contributing to the world’s food hygiene, wellness and to better lives through creation of jobs and opportunities.
To compliment African cuisine and seasoning, West African seasoning company Ltd, an affiliate of the Ajinomoto Group (a Japanase company) first produced Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) began its sales/marketing operations in Nigeria in 1991 with her factory located at No 37 Creek Road, Apapa-Lagos.
He continued that Monosodium glutamate is the sodium salt of glutamic acid which is a flavour enhancer which has been used effectively for over a century to bring out the best flavours in food and its main ingredients are starch, sugar beets and molasses which undergone fermentation process just like African Iru or Ogiri and it has been used through the centuries in Europe, China, Japan and South East Asia as a taste stimulant and flavour enhancer.
“When we eat, we ingest the necessary nutrients from our foods to make our body system function and it is the most abundant amino acids in nature”, he added.
Introducing the company brand Ajinomoto super seasoning and Ma Dish, the corporate communication officer of the company Ikediashi Francisca said that the product is a common food ingredient like salt, sugar and pepper in the United States, where it is on the General Recognized As Safe (GRAS) list, and it is also approved by governments worldwide including Europe, Japan and other Asian countries, South America and Africa.
She added that it is used for cooking and not washing as it bring out the natural taste in the cooking which is thoroughly researched as food ingredient which has been approved by the National Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
The General Sales and Marketing Manager of the group, Mr Ebebe Amachigh, pledged the support of the company to create jobs for the youths in the ancient city through the establishment of farm settlements where the raw material for the production of the product will be sited in the ancient city considering the fertile and expanse land nature had bequeathed to the people of the land.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, therefore blessed the company and urged the management to support him in his quest to promote Agriculture which could provide jobs for the teeming Nigeria Youths.
