Akinlalu: Osun APC Lauds Arrest Of Killer-Amotekun Corps Suspects
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended the Nigeria Police Force for its proactiveness in the investigation of the extra-judicial killings of natives of Akinlalu, a town in the Ife-North Local Government Council Area of the state.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that personnel of the Amotekun Corps last Tuesday stormed the community and allegedly killed four people.
Also, some police officers from Force Headquarters, Abuja, yesterday, sealed the Operation base of Osun Amotekun at Oke-Fia area, Osogbo, and Ile-Ife, arresting 20 personnel in connection with the Akinlalu incident.
Meanwhile, the Osun State Police Command has confirmed that the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has taken over the case, adding that five suspects have been apprehended.
Osun APC, in a statement by its director of media and information, Kola Olabisi, urged the police to smoke out the Osun Amotekun Commander, Adekunle Omoyele, from his ‘hiding’.
The APC said, “We are imploring the Inspector-General of Police to delve into the matter and ensure that the armed political hoodlums who have been terrorising the people of the state under the nomenclature of Amotekun corps are diligently prosecuted and face the legal penalty that is commensurate with the offences committed.
“The Police should intensify their dragnet for smoking out, without further delay, the Commandant of the Osun Amotekun corps, from anywhere he may be hiding.”
