Akinlalu: We Will Ensure Justice For Victims – Osun Assembly
The Osun State House of Assembly has again reiterated its resolve to ensure that those involved in the killings at Akinlalu Community are brought to justice.
The lawmakers made the promise in a statement on Saturday.
It would be recalled that
residents of Akinlalu, a community in Ife North Local Government Area of the state, accused the operatives of Amotekun Corps of killing four people when they invaded the town on September 30.
Also, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has taken over the case with at least 20 personnel of the Osun Amotekun arrested by the Intelligence Response Team from the Force Headquarters on Wednesday.
The House, in the statement said it would support the state government and security agencies in ensuring that those involved in the killings are brought to justice.
The lawmakers also promised that the government would look after the well-being of the victims’ families.
“The Osun House of Assembly will ensure that justice is served on this issue. Those killed were Osun people who had families and we will not let them down.
“We are working closely with the state government and the security agencies to ensure that those involved in the senseless killing are brought to book and I want to once again assure the victims’ families that they will get justice.
“The Assembly under the speaker will not condone the killing of innocent people and we will ensure that the victims’ families are not left alone. This is the time they needed us the most and we won’t disappoint them,” the statement noted.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Hon Akinyode Oyewusi, had earlier led members of the Assembly, government officials and Peoples Democratic Party leaders to Akinlalu community to commiserate with the victims of the Osun Amotekun operatives attack.
Speaking at the palace of the Alakinla of Akinlalu, Oba Oluwabusola Oloyede, during the visit, the deputy speaker assured residents of the community that the government would ensure justice for the victims.
Oyewusi, also appealed to youths in the community not to take the law into their hands and allow for proper investigation.

“We are here to commiserate with the families and the town over what happened. We also want to beg the youth of Akinlalu to allow peace to reign.
“Ife North is a peaceful region. We don’t have power over what has happened, but we want to assure our people that the state government and the police have already started an investigation into the matter, and I am assuring my people that justice will be served.
“We are waiting for the report of the police and the committee set up by the state government and by God’s grace, the perpetrators will not go freely. We will ensure justice for the victims.”
The deputy speaker, who visited the victims’ families alongside other members of the assembly, promised that the government would do the necessary things to support the families.
“My message to your family is to accept this as fate. I pray God will comfort you, and I want to assure you that the government will do everything necessary to support these families,” Oyewusi said.
