The senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of making inappropriate advances towards her, leading to ongoing tensions within the Senate.

Speaking on Arise TV’s Morning Show on Friday, Akpoti-Uduaghan detailed an incident from 8th December 2023, during a visit to Akpabio’s residence in Akwa Ibom for his birthday celebration.

“While my husband and I were being shown around his house, Akpabio held my hand and suggested I spend ‘special moments’ there,” she recounted Cheap Cra-wallonie Jordan Outlet , adidas Originals Crew Παιδική Μπλούζα Φούτερ , Pantalones cortos negros Squadra 21 de adidas Football. “My husband overheard and later cautioned me against being alone with the Senate President.”

Akpoti-Uduaghan alleges that her refusal of Akpabio’s sexual advances has resulted in deliberate attempts to undermine her role in the Senate.

“My situation mirrors that of a student punished by a lecturer for rejecting his sexual advances,” she stated.

According to her, “Akpabio asked me to sleep with him, I rebuked him, that’s why he is maligning me in the Senate. My case is a case of a student being punished by a lecturer for refusing to sleep with him.

“My issue with Akpabio started on 8th of December, 2023. When myself and my husband visited Akwa Ibom for Senator Akpabio’s birthday. My husband heard him and later told me not to travel abroad alone or be with the Senate President alone.”

Osun Defender recalls that the strained relationship between the two senators has been evident in recent Senate proceedings.

On 20th February 2025, a dispute over seating arrangements escalated when Akpabio ordered Akpoti-Uduaghan’s removal from the chamber for refusing to relocate without prior consultation.

This incident led to her referral to the Senate’s Ethics and Privileges Committee for alleged misconduct.

In response to these events, a coalition of women’s rights advocates, Voices for Inclusion and Equity for Women (VIEW), condemned Akpabio’s actions, describing them as part of a broader barron trump height tall nikes melania donald trump pattern of gender-based intimidation in Nigerian politics.

This is not the first time Akpabio has faced such allegations. In July 2020, Joy Nunieh, former Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), claimed she slapped Akpabio for sexually harassing her during a meeting.

As tensions escalate, Akpoti-Uduaghan has expressed her willingness to appear before the Ethics Committee, insisting on a public hearing to ensure transparency.

She has also threatened to expose further details about Akpabio’s conduct, stating, “I will let Nigerians know how you are discriminating against me, how you have maligned me, how you have dehumanised me.”

The Senate is expected to address these serious allegations in the coming days, as calls for a thorough and impartial investigation grow louder.
