Residents of Blessed Oyeyemi Lane in Alekuwodo Community of Osogbo have solicited the State Government’s intervention to prevent the community against imminent flooding.
A community Leader in the area, Pa. Moses Adebile made this appeal on Wednesday while speaking with Osun Defender correspondent in Osogbo.
He urged Government to extend channelisation of Ogbaagba river along Alekuwodo to Osun river which could save the community from flooding.
He explained that the river used to overflow its boundary at times if it rained. He brought it into memories the experience of 2010 flooding in Osogbo particularly in Alekuwodo.
Pa Adebile however solicited similar interventions to prevent loss of lives and properties to flooding.
He further stated that the channelisation would allow free flow of water and prevent disaster in Folorunso Abeke Lane, Blessed Oyeyemi Lane, Oyegbade street, Josiah Oke street, Teledalase street respectively.
He advised that this will proffer solution to future occurrences of flooding in Alekuwodo and its environs in the state.
According to him, “most of these areas are residential areas while any flood occurrence will lead to lost of lives and properties in the community”.
Another resident of the area Elder Hassan Ahmed also appealed to Government to come to their aid in the community so as not to fall victims of flood again.
