All LGs Will Participate In Kwara Trade Fair – Commissioner

The Kwara State Government has assured the full participation of all the 16 Local Government Councils in the up-coming 8th Trade Fair Exhibition slated for November 25 – December 7, 2021.
The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Arc. Aliyu Muhammad Saifuddeen gave the assurance when he received in audience a delegation of the Kwara State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KWACCIMA) in his office.
The Commissioner described KWACCIMA as a reputable organization which has impacted positively on the socio-economic status of the State, according to a statement by the Press Secretary of the Ministry, Oba Azeez in Ilorin.
Arc. Saifuddeen disclosed that the up-coming event would give all the Local Government Councils the opportunity to showcase their potentials, thereby exposing their natural endowments to the outside World for potential investors with the aim of creating employment opportunities at the grassroots level.
He, however, reminded the delegation of the autonomy of the Councils to decide on what they considered appropriate for them, pointing out that the Ministry in its advisory role, would brief the Management on the need for the Councils to fully participate at the exhibition.
Saifuddeen informed the KWACCIMA delegation that the present administration inherited a near comatose system from the previous administration, coupled with humongous debt profile which the adminstration had been struggling hard to defray since coming on board in 2019.
He disclosed further that the State Government has also embarked on various developmental projects which have direct impact on the citizens and most importantly, the various Communities which had never felt government presence for many years.
Earlier, the Director General of KWACCIMA, Barrister Suleiman Ayo Fagbemi had disclosed that the purpose of their visit was to brief the Commissioner on the up-coming event and the need to create synergy with the Local Government administration, being the closest to the grassroot.
Barr. Fagbemi, who is also a retired Permanent Secretary in the State further disclosed that the theme of this year’s Trade Fair is “Trade Beyond Borders”, with the intent to provide all the Council areas the opportunity to showcase the available mineral, natural resources and cultural endowment of their respective Councils to the teeming participants from across the country.
Among the cardinal objectives of the event, the Director-General said, is to avail the potential investors the opportunity to know the potentials of each Local Government Council in the State.
