Alleged N432bn Fraud: Former Kaduna Gov. El-Rufai Still In EFCC Net
The former governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai is in the custody of the economic and financial crimes commission (EFCC) over alleged N432 billion fraud.
The former governor, El-Rufai who honoured the invitation of the anti-graft commission on monday, is still undergoing interrogation and investigation.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that El-Rufai voluntarily presented himself to the commission yesterday. However, sources within the anti-graft agency disclosed that he was yet to be granted bail as interrogation continues this Tuesday.
The probe is said to stem from a 2024 report by the Kaduna state house of assembly, which alleged El-rufai’s administration between 2015 and 2023 of allegedly diverting public funds through multiple state channels.
A report says investigators are allegedly reviewing contracts and financial transactions executed during El-Rufai’s eight-year tenure.
In a related development, the department of state services (DSS) has filed a three-count charge against El-Rufai at the federal high court in Abuja.
The charge borders on alleged unlawful interception of telephone communications belonging to the national security adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
