The alleged mastermind of the blackmail videos against the Osun House of Assembly Leader, Honourable Timothy Owoeye have been arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrate Court last Friday.
The accused persons are: Kazeem Agbabiaka, 57, Femi Oyebode, 43, AbdulRasheed Ojonla, 52, Babatunde Oluajo, 45, Adebiyi Kehinde Oseni, 48, Oyebamiji Oyeniyi, 34, Ismaila Azeez, 54, and Awodunmola Kehinde, 52.
The accused persons were docked on two count charges bothering on fraud.
The prosecutor ASP Solomon Idoko informed the court that the accused persons and others at large between the month of April and July 2018 at Oluajo area, Osogbo conspired among themselves to commit felony and with intent to defraud.
He added that the suspects obtained the sum of N38 million from Timothy Owoeye with the pretence of organizing spiritual prayer to avert his death revelation.
He said the offence committed contravene section 1 (1) (a) (3), section 1 (1) (C) and section 1 (30 of the advance fee fraud and related offences art, laws of federation of Nigeria 2006.
The defence counsel, Temitope Oyedipe told the court to grant the accused persons bail in the most liberal terms.
The Magistrate O.A. Ayilara ordered the accused persons to be remanded in prison.
The case was adjourned to 19 September 2018 for ruling.
Meanwhile, the medium gathered that the suspects is an arm of cartel specialized in defrauding public figures and blackmail them with video upon knowing the dubious acts.
It was gathered that the gang revealed the video after the lawmaker reported them to the police, with a view to forcing him hands off the case, but the involvement of the police has taken the matter off his reach.
