Aluu 4: Finally Justice Is Served As 3 Found Guilty

Over 5 years after 4 students of the University of Port Harcourt were beaten and burnt alive in Aluu, justice seems to have finally taken place.  A Federal High Court sitting in Rivers has found three persons guilty of the murder. The four male students namely Ugonna Obuzor, Toku Lloyd, Chiadika Biringa and Tekena Elkanah, were brutally murdered by members of Aluu community in the Obio-Apkor Local Government Area of Rivers, over allegations that they were thieves. They were stripped naked, severely beaten and then burnt to death. 12 persons were initially arrested but in January this year, 5 persons were discharged and acquitted.

Delivering judgment in the case today, the presiding judge,  Justice Ledan Nyordee found three persons guilty in connection with the murder and then discharged and acquitted the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th defendants on grounds that the prosecution team failed to prove its case of murder against them.

This news has created feelings in the public because according to the video that showed how the students were killed, more than 3 people were involved in the torture and death of the boys. However it is also a sign of relieve for the family of the deceased that justice has finally been served after the death of thier sons in 2012.
