Aminu Kano’s Wife Dies At 89

Wife of the former presidential candidate of the defunct People Redemption Party (PRP), Malam Aminu Kano, Hajiya Aisha Aminu Kano, died on Monday, at the age of 89.

She died in the early hours of Monday, at her residence in Kano.

However, a grandchild of the deceased, Alhaji Aminu, who confirmed her death, disclosed that the deceased was good family woman during her lifetime.

He said that she was survived by many grandchildren, adding that her remains had been buried at Dandolo cemetery within Kano metropolis, in accordance to  Islamic rites.

Reacting, Tanko Yakasai, described her death as a great loss to the disciples of Mallam Aminu Kano.

Meanwhile, Alhaji Aminu Kabara, a grandson to the deceased, who made the announcement, said Aisha died at the age of 89 on Sunday night after a prolonged illness.

Her death is coming 34 years after the demise of her husband late Aminu Kano, a radical politician and founder of Northern Elements Progressive Union (NEPU), who died in April 1983.
