The Director General, Amotekun Corps, State of Osun, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, has appealed to members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) to cooperate with the Amotekun enforcement team to achieve an effective policing of the state borders.
Comrade Amitolu Shittu made the appeal when he led his team to effect border closure directive of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola at the Osun-Oyo border, through Iwo town.
During the operation, many commercial vehicles, who entered the state of Osun illegally from Oyo state, were sent back to Ibadan; while a recalcitrant commercial driver was arrested and handed over to the DPO, Iwo division.
The Amotekun DG, who frowned at the uncooperative attitude of some members the transport unions; also called on the Nigeria Police and other security agencies to see the effective implementation of Governor Oyetola’s directive as a collective responsibility to contain the spread of the dreaded Coronavirus.
While receiving the team, Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdrasheed Adewale Akanbi Telu the first, thanked Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for appointing Comrade Amitolu Shittu to lead the Amotekun Corps noting that the corps in Osun is in safe hands.
Similarly, the leader of Taawun Muslim Organization, Imaam Daud Imran Malaasan, said he openly declared the group’s support for Amotekun, because of the person of Comrade Amitolu Shittu; saying Taawun is ever ready to give necessary support to Amotekun corps to succeed.
Reacting separately, the pioneer DG of Amotekun, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, thanked the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdrasheed Akanbi Adewale Telu the first and the leader of Taawun, Imaam Daud Imraan Molaasan, for their love and support; pledging that he would justify the confidence reposed in him by Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and the entire people of Osun to successfully lead the all important native security organization.
