The embattled former FIFA and CAF Executive member, Amos Adamu has announced his retirement from football administration.

Adamu who was recently banned for two years by the world governing body, maintains his innocence and alleges the sanctions were politically motivated by a mafia in FIFA.

He was Nigeria’s top ranked football official in the international bodies until November 2010, when he received a three-year ban and 10,000 Swiss franc fine from FIFA Ethics Committee after being found guilty of breaching bribery rules.

He said that FIFA had pitched itself against Nigeria over the Government’s refusal to uphold a financial obligation after the 2009 U-17 World Cup.
