Brig-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi (Rtd.), the State Commander of Amotekun Corps in Osun, has disclosed that men of the corps have arrested a 25 year old man, for allegedly raping two minors in Osogbo.
Adewinmbi, while speaking with journalists on Saturday, revealed that the arrested suspect, who was believed to be a serial rapist, was apprehended after a tip-off by locals in the neighborhood where the crime was committed.
He claimed that the suspect lured the minors, who were aged five and seven, to an uncompleted building in Akepe Area of Osogbo, where he later sexually assaulted them.
Adewinmbi said, “Investigation revealed that the suspect is highly notorious and a serial rapist.
“Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the crime and he has been transferred to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
“I want to specially thank residents of the area of the incident, who did well by informing us about what happened. I appreciate them for their support.”
The Amotekun commander thereafter reiterated the commitment of the corps to fighting criminal activities in the state.
He said Amotekun would always work with other security agencies to rid the state of criminals.
