Osun Amotekun corps has paraded 5 suspected syndicates terrorizing the residents of Osun by stealing motorcycles and selling them to the neighboring states.
Parading the suspects in Osogbo, the field commander of the corps, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, said the operatives on routine night patrol apprehended the criminals on their way to Ibadan and Ogbomoso to sell the motorcycles to their buyers.
According to him, “They were arrested during our routine night patrol at Ife/Osu Expressway and Ogbomoso road with stolen motorcycles when trying to escape from the state to Oyo state they were apprehended by our men and after investigation, they confessed to the crime.
“The suspects namely, Tayo Oguniran 30 yrs, Adegboye Olumoyero, 32 yrs, Hamzat Sheu, 21yrs, Awal Hassan, 34yrs, Zaharadeen Bello, 25yrs, and Usman Umar, 25yrs were arrested in the midnight along Osu/Ife road and Ifon/Iresa Adu/Ogbomoso road during our routine patrol along the road.
“They were arrested after stealing a Bajaj and TVS motorcycles in Ifon-Osun and Ilesa and heading to Ogbomoso and Ibadan to sell it to their customers, they admitted to having committed the crime and explained that they have been in the business for a long time.
“They further confessed that it was their Fifth time stealing motorcycles and transporting them to Ogbomoso and Ibadan.
“The Osun Amotekun is currently carrying out an investigation to arrest other criminals that are involved in the act and urged members of the public to support the corps by revealing the identity of criminals around them, residents of osun should be security conscious at this time, so many unthinkable things are happening in our societies, people have to be vigilant with their lives and security.
“I want to assure you that the suspects will be charged to court soon,” Shittu said.
He also urged the residents of the state to celebrate Christmas and New Year peacefully, because the law of Nigeria is bigger than anybody.
