A veteran Nigerian actress, Saratu Gidado, popularly known as Daso, has died in her sleep.
It was learnt that Daso, who is popular for acting in most Kannywood films, passed away in the early hours of Tuesday after the midnight meal before the commencement of the day’s Ramadan fast (Sahur).
For more than 18 years, Daso played a significant role in the Hausa film sector, captivating audiences in the Northern region with her exceptional acting skills and diverse characters.
Before achieving fame in acting, Saratu dedicated herself to teaching.
Her demise has left fans and colleagues, mourning, with tributes pouring in from various quarters.
She will be buried by 4 pm today, according to Islamic rites.
She is survived by her husband and children.
