APC boycotts Rivers LG poll

 

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has made known its resolution to boycott the coming local government election in Rivers State.

In preparation for the election, a comprehensive list of all qualified political parties were earlier released by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission.

According to the list, 18 political parties were to participate until the All Progressives Congress wrote the commission notifiying the commission of the party resolution not to participate in the election which now makes it 17 parties.

A visit to the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission headquarters, along Aba Road, Portharcourt on Tuesday confirmed that names and Political parties of all qualified parties have been published and posted to show the Commission readiness for the election.

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka had sounded a note of warning that no effort would be overlooked in arresting anyone caught trying to cause crises come April 17 during the council poll.
