The All Progressives Congress in the State of Osun has chided the opposition Peoples Democratic Party PDP for vote buying just as the Osun Police Command arrested a PDP Chieftain, Fatai Diekola for involving in Vote Buying at Ward 05, unit 17 around Alekunwodo area in Osogbo.
Kunle Oyatomi, Osun APC’s spokesperson said Diekola’s arrest confirms its earlier allegation that the PDP planned to manipulate Saturday’s election in the state.
Oyatomi said “We now at least know one of the primary factors that probably gave the PDP as many votes as they had during that Saturday’s election. With the alleged arrest of Fatai Diekola, a chieftain of PDP for being in possession of more that 60 PVC, we can now have a clear idea that in fact, some PVCs and card readers must have been fraudulently used to boost PDP’s figure in unknown designated polling units. It is not impossible that that method is what Diekola was preparing for use, in the next Thursday rerun election in Osogbo and other centres.”
“When we shouted before the election that PDP was going to manipulate the card readers, our allegation might have been taken lightly by INEC until nemesis caught up with Diekola in Osogbo today. There is no way the PDP will not use this fraudulent method throughout the centres where the rerun election will take place on Thursday.”
“We appeal to INEC to take the event of the arrest of Diekola seriously and beef up security and the verification of the cards being processed by the card readers during accreditation.”
“We are certain that all the top officials of the PDP and their surrogates in other parties will be depending on this fraudulent use of the card readers on Thursday.”
“So, we call on both the security agencies and the INEC not only to be vigilant on Thursday, but also to deal ruthlessly with whosoever attempts to use that fraudulent means in the rerun election. If the PDP can manipulate the card rgbeeaders and get away with it in this election, they will do worse things, come 2019.”
“They already now have rigging formula which appears to have caught INEC flat-footed.”
