APC Chieftain Rejects Oyetola’s Appointment

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ile-Ife, State of Osun, Dr Taiwo Olaiya has rejected his appointment as a member of the Governing Council, Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke.

Olaiya, a former Executive Secretary of Ife Central Local Government, was appointed by Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on Thursday.

But in a statement he released late Friday, Olaiya said he had intimated the Governor of his decision to reject the appointment.

He wrote: “Sometimes in the early hours of today, a piece of information made rounds in the social media about certain appointments of chairmen and members of governing boards of Osun State educational institutions by His Excellency Governor Adegboyega Oyetola. In that reports, my name was included as a member of the board of Governing Council of the reputable Osun State College of Technology Esa-Oke.

“Taking the information to be true, I wrote a long message to Mr. Governor appreciating the kind gesture but, however, declining to serve in that capacity, and detailing the reasons for my decision.”

Olaiya was the Executive Secretary of Ife Central Local Government in the administration of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola from 2011-2016.
