The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday commenced the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms ahead of the National Assembly by-elections scheduled for August 16 in 12 states.

The by-elections are intended to fill legislative seats left vacant due to the deaths or resignations of lawmakers who assumed executive positions.

Among those who picked up the forms at the APC national secretariat in Abuja was Oscar Aghedo, an aspirant for the House of Representatives seat representing Ovia South-West/North-East Federal Constituency in Edo State.

Speaking to journalists, Aghedo promised to prioritise infrastructure and human capacity development if elected.

“The immediate past lawmaker, now deputy governor, performed well in infrastructure. I will not only build on that but also focus on empowering people,” he said.

He appealed to the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to conduct transparent and credible primaries on July 19.

Aghedo expressed confidence, saying, “By the grace of God, I have divine backing, the governor’s support, and the mandate of my people.”

He pledged to focus on youth and women empowerment, and providing support for the underprivileged.

Also at the secretariat was Yakubu Waziri, an aspirant seeking to represent Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency in Kaduna State.

He lamented the negative publicity that had long plagued the area and credited recent improvements to the interventions of President Bola Tinubu and the Kaduna State governor.

Waziri promised to focus on improving security and youth empowerment.

“I have no fears going into the election. I have God, the people, and the governor behind me,” he said.
