There are strong indications that the All Progressives Congress, APC’s national convention slated for Saturday, February 26th may have been postponed.
The party, which has been shifting its convention since December 2020, is set to postpone it for the fourth time following the inability of the 22 APC governors to agree on issues involving zoning and the mode of election.
According to inside sources, some of the governors and stakeholders are rooting for consensus in choosing the next national working committee members of the party while others are said to be strongly opposed to it and insisting on having members choose through the election.
The governors are also yet to agree on zoning the various offices.
To buttress the claim of postponement, Osun Defender findings revealed that the party has failed to sell forms to any aspirant with less than five days to go.
However, a top source in the Presidency said President Muhammadu Buhari will Tuesday meet with the APC governors in Abuja.
The meeting is expected to address picking a new date for the national convention, direction on the issue of consensus, as well as agreeing on the zoning of the various national offices of the party.
Osun Defender also gathered that the convention is likely to be shifted by another two weeks at least to allow for more consultations and fence-mending among party leaders and stakeholders.
