APC Convention: Canadidates Await Election Results
The waiting game for the results of elections into party positions where attempts to get a consensus failed is still on.
Elections into various positions begun on Saturday all through the early hours of Sunday.
Delegates from Imo and Delta States held up the process for more than an hour before voting resumed for Delta State delegates at about 5:56am, however, this was disrupted at about 6:45 am when a dispute between members of the two main factions turned violent.
It took the intervention of security officials and the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi for peace to be restored.
The situation was however slightly different in the case of Imo as voting could not hold following threats of violence.
The most hotly contested positions include: National Organising Secretary, Women Leader, National Publicity Secretary and Deputy National Chairman (North) where the contestants insisted on testing their popularity at the polls.
President Muhammadu Buhari earlier showed up at about 10:30am but had to leave when it became obvious that the collation of results would take a while.
Details later.
