APC Labels Peter Obi Nigeria’s ‘Leading Prophet of Doom’

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State and Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, labeling him as Nigeria’s “leading prophet of doom” following his New Year message to Nigerians.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, conveyed the party’s stance through his official X handle on Friday.

The post stated, “Peter Obi is now Nigeria’s leading prophet of doom, says APC.”

“While Nigerians celebrated the new year with hope for a more glorious 2025, Peter Obi was seemingly stuck in a replay of his jangling, gloom-ridden wishlist for our country.”

The ruling party accused Obi of spreading negativity and painting a misleading picture of the nation’s current state.

Obi, in his New Year address, had expressed concerns about the nation’s political, economic, and security situation, stating that conditions were deteriorating daily.

However, the APC countered this claim, arguing that “all indicators show that our country is rebounding in significant measure across all sectors.”

The APC further accused Obi of attempting to score “cheap political points” with his message instead of encouraging unity and optimism.
