Former Adamawa governorship candidate, Dr Umar Ardo, has declared that the continued rule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) amounts to a “death sentence” for Nigeria, as he unveiled his new political party, the All Democratic Alliance (ADA).

In a statement issued on September 12, 2025, Ardo lamented that since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999, the country has been on a “relentless drift into economic bankruptcy, political instability, social unrest, and disunity,” despite its vast human and material resources.

“By all human standards, Nigeria ought to be in the league of highly developed nations, proudly standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the world’s most advanced economies. Instead, we languish in the abyss of poverty, insecurity, hunger, instability, and disillusionment,” he said.

According to him, the tragedy of Nigeria’s democracy lies with a “visionless, venal, corrupt, and insensitive political class” that has “milked the nation dry, looted the treasury, and sown the seeds of ethnic and religious divisions to perpetuate themselves in power.”

Ardo revealed that he and other “like-minded patriots” had successfully registered the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), which has already received provisional approval from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He described ADA as “Nigeria’s Ark of Noah,” a platform designed to bring together patriotic elites, professionals, women, and youth to rescue the country from the grip of APC, PDP, and other recycled politicians.

“ADA is not just another party – it is the moral rebirth of our nation! It is the rallying point for every patriotic Nigerian who still believes in truth, justice, service, and sacrifice,” Ardo declared.

He further vowed that ADA would give priority to women and youths, who he said would occupy over 50 percent of the party’s manifesto and developmental agenda.

Ardo accused Nigeria’s political establishment of reducing youths to “foot soldiers of violence” while sidelining women, despite their proven track record in education, healthcare, agriculture, and governance.

“Silence is no longer golden; it is betrayal! Indifference is no longer safe; it is cowardice,” he warned, urging Nigerians to rise and wrest power from what he described as “political predators.”

He stressed that the 2027 elections must mark a turning point, warning that another electoral cycle dominated by APC and PDP would endanger the country’s survival.

“The recycled politicians of APC, PDP, and others have failed, and failed woefully. Their continued grip on power is a death sentence for Nigeria’s survival as a nation. But a new dawn is possible – if patriotic Nigerians unite under ADA.

“This is no longer a choice; it is a duty. To stand aside is to betray Nigeria. To join hands is to save her. Let history remember us not as the generation that watched Nigeria die, but as the one that rose, united, and gave her a new lease of life.”
