The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State has clinched the only remaining state assembly seat at Oriade, in Oriade Local Government, in a supplementary poll held on Saturday.
The election in the state constituency was earlier declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on March 9.
INEC had adduced the reason for declaring the exercise inconclusive as a situation where the margin between the winner and the runner up was less than the number of registered voters in the areas where there was cancellation of votes.
In the rerun election, the APC candidate, Arch. Babatunde Ojo polled the total of 702 votes to defeat his closest rival from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Barr. Pelumi Olajegbensi, who scored 9 votes.
The final result later released by INEC put the total votes accruing to APC at 12088, while PDP polled 9913 votes.
Recall that the APC had earlier won 22 out of the 26 assembly seats in the state, leaving PDP with three.
