Tension erupted on Wednesday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Summit in Ibadan as aggrieved party youths protested the presence of a former member of the House of Representatives, c, forcing him to leave the venue over his perceived association with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State.

Fijabi, an APC chieftain, recently drew public attention after his appointment by Governor Seyi Makinde as Chairman of the Oyo @ 50 Anniversary Committee.

During the unveiling of the anniversary logo, he reportedly hinted at the possibility of defecting to the PDP, a development that has since stirred controversy within APC circles.

Eyewitnesses said trouble started shortly after Fijabi arrived at the summit venue, as youths began chanting slogans such as “We don’t want him” and “Send him out,” disrupting the programme and creating a tense atmosphere.

Efforts by organisers and party leaders to calm the protesters proved abortive as the chants grew louder and more coordinated. Fijabi was eventually escorted out of the hall by some APC members amid sustained protests.

The incident highlights deepening internal dissatisfaction within the Oyo State APC, especially among youth members, many of whom see Fijabi’s recent engagements with the PDP-led state government as a breach of party loyalty and trust.
