APGA, AA Condemn Murder of Anambra Voter, Richard Ibe
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of Hon. Richard Ibe of Ihie Village, Owerre-Ezukala, in Orumba South Local Government Area. Hon. Ibe, who served as Councillor representing Owerre-Ezukala Ward One, was also the Legislative Leader at the Orumba South Legislative Council.
He was reportedly shot by an unidentified gunman shortly after casting his vote in the governorship election on Saturday, November 8, 2025, which saw Governor Chukwuma Soludo win decisively.
He emphasised that this was the only significant event that marred the party’s celebrations following the election.
Action Alliance (AA) governorship candidate Ozo Japhet Nweke also spoke out against the killing.
While confirming he would not challenge Soludo’s victory, he called on security agencies to act swiftly to apprehend the culprits.
Describing the tragedy, Nweke said, “As far as I am concerned, the just-concluded guber election in Anambra State was peaceful, free of intimidation, harassment and vote buying as has been reported by the press. What happened at Orumba South was just an unfortunate incident.
“The election has come and gone, and the winner emerges. What is left for us, the losers, is to join hands with Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo to actualise his vision of making Anambra a livable and prosperous state in Nigeria. The election went peacefully. There was a large turnout of voters. There was electoral maturity during the voting process.
“From my personal assessment, there was no record of intimidation, harassment and vote buying. I didn’t witness any of the above-mentioned incidents in Awka and its environs, where I did cast my vote.
“I will not go to court to challenge the outcome of the election, because the process was remarkably credible, free and fair,” he declared.
While congratulating Soludo on his victory, Nweke urged the governor to prioritise security and job creation in his second term.
