The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has announced the opening of its recruitment portal for Nigerian citizens interested in tax officer roles, with applications beginning at 12:00 am on November 2, 2024.
The FIRS, in a recent announcement via X, stated it is actively seeking to fill Officer I and Officer II positions across multiple states in Nigeria.
The tax authority emphasized its commitment to inclusivity by encouraging women, minorities, and persons with disabilities to apply.
Positions are available across eight states, including Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, Ekiti, Lagos, and Oyo, but successful candidates must be open to working in any FIRS office location nationwide.
To be eligible for these roles, applicants must meet specific criteria. Candidates must be 27 years old or younger as of December 31, 2024, and should have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) no later than December 31, 2021.

Educational qualifications require a Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) with First Class or Second Class Upper Division in fields like Accounting, Actuarial Science, Economics, Law, and related disciplines. Additional qualifications, such as relevant master’s degrees or professional affiliations (e.g., ICAN, ACCA), will be considered advantageous.
The FIRS selection process will involve various stages of assessment, including aptitude tests, interviews, and medical examinations. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for these further assessments.
Applicants are urged to use only the official FIRS recruitment portal, www.firs.gov.ng/careers, and to be cautious of fraudulent recruitment schemes.
Applications must be submitted by November 14, 2024, with candidates advised to submit a single application for their preferred location, as multiple submissions are not permitted. The FIRS reaffirmed its commitment to equal opportunities for all qualified candidates, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or background.
