Former Minister of Interior and erstwhile Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has expressed profound grief over the death of Echekwu Anselem Udoka, popularly known as Orobo Aregbe.

Osun Defender had earlier reported that he died a few days ago at the intensive care unit of the Gbagada General Hospital, after battling an undisclosed ailment.

It was gathered that his corpse is now in his hometown in Imo State, where he is expected to be buried.

However, in a heartfelt tribute, Aregbesola described the deceased as a loyal political son, an extraordinary mobilizer, and a shining example of dedication to progressive politics.

The news of Orobo’s passing was relayed to Aregbesola on Monday, January 20, 2025, by his personal physician. Orobo had been rushed to the hospital by relatives in a critical condition, battling flooded lungs and extremely low oxygen levels.

Despite the best efforts of the medical team, Aregbesola’s fervent hope for a recovery was dashed when Orobo was pronounced dead at 1:04 pm.
