The Minister of Interior Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has ordered the conduct of promotion examinations for deserving personnel of Immigration, Fire, NSCDC and Correctional Service to states, instead of only in Abuja.
The minister said on Tuesday that the centre used for the examinations by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board was too crowded and would not give the exercise the integrity needed.
This was revealed in a statement issued by Deputy Director of Press and Public Relations in the ministry, Mr Afonja Ajibola, who said that the minister gave the directive when he visited Saascon International School Computer Based Test (CBT) Centre, Abuja.
The centre is being used by the board to conduct promotion exams for the four services under it.
The ministry’s spokesman said Aregbesola observed that examination in such a crowded environment would not give the process the needed integrity it deserved.
He therefore, ordered the Secretary of the board, Hajiya Aisha Rufa’i, to henceforth conduct the promotion examinations in various states of the federation.
Aregbesola said there were CBT centres across the states that could be used for seamless conduct of the examinations.
He, however, commended the board for introducing CBT for the exercise which had added credibility to the process.
