Despite the economy holocaust facing the country, Governor Rauf Aregbesola of the State of Osun has promised to reinstate the State NYSC Subvention to the corps members serving in the state.
Governor Aregbesola while speaking during the closing ceremony and terminal parade of the 2017 Batch ‘B’ Orientation Course at the Ede camp of the NYSC said, “The recent request by the State of Osun Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps, Mr. Emmanuel Attah our administration is looking into the provision of corps member allowances and also on appropriate review as at when necessary. You will collect this very soon which is a sign of very good mercy from us.”
Aregbesola who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Mrs Titi laoye-Tomori in his address also advised the corps members to engage in skill acquisition during the Orientation course positing that, “Job and wealth creation cannot be left for the government alone, though it is its responsibility to give a policy direction on such schemes and the enabling environment for their actualization.”
“There is a clear synergy between unemployment and poverty; therefore in order to fight the scourge, the NYSC introduced the skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development program which is aimed not only at keeping participants busy but also empowering them to contribute their quota to the socio-economic development of our nation.”
According to the Governor, “My administration is poised towards job creation and youth empowerment. We have empowered the citizen of the State especially Youths and women to the tone of N15billion which has helped to alleviate poverty and unemployment syndrome in the state.
Aregbesola assured the corps members of safety and security during the time they will spend in the state.
Also, the State NYSC boss, Mr. Emmanuel Attah also solicited the help of the State government in improving the facilities at the camp, payment of State allowances to corps members, financial support to subsidize feeding on camp, expansion of the Camp Lecture Auditorium, and renovation of the Camp Dining Hall/Kitchen.
