Former Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has received Episcopal Ecumenical Award from the Ijesa-Noth Diocese of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion in the state.
The award was presented to the Nigeria’s Minister of Interior today at St Peter’s Anglican Church, Ijebu-Ijesa.
The award is the first of its kind in the Anglican Communion nationwide, according to Diocesan Bishop of Ijesa North and Synod President, Rev. Dr. Isaac Oluyamo.
Oluyamo said the award was bestowed on Aregbesola as a result of his harmonious leadership style, demonstrated throughout his eight-year two tenures in office as helmsman of the state; and which paves way positively for him in currently discharging sterling duties as Interior Minister.
Aregbesola’s supporters and admirers of stormed the church to celebrate him. The church in spite of its organised setting was filled to capacity.
The event led to obstruction of free flow of traffics as the number of vehicles that conveyed people to the programme was more than what the area could accommodate.
However, security operatives, particularly the local security officers in the areas ensure that the vehicles had a hitch-free movement when the programme ended.
A reception was organized in honour of Aregbesola at Timsed Hotel, Ijebu-Ijesa.
