The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, on Wednesday revalidated his membership of the party at Ward 8, Ifofin, in Ilesa East Local Government Area of Osun State.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that Aregbesola’s registration marked the official commencement of the ADC Membership Registration and Revalidation Exercise in the state.
He was joined by members of the national and state committees, party stakeholders and community leaders who witnessed the symbolic revalidation process.
Abosede Oluwaseun, Chairman, Directorate of Media and Publicity, ADC Osun State, in a statement, said the exercise was coordinated by the ADC National Membership Registration and Revalidation Committee, led by its Secretary, Senator Sodiq Yar’Adua, alongside the Osun State Chairman of the committee, Hon. Kamil Akinlade.
Senator Yaradua disclosed that the new ADC membership cards are embedded with 12 advanced security features to prevent duplication and strengthen the integrity of the party’s membership system.
He announced that Aregbesola became the first person in Nigeria to be revalidated under the upgraded registration framework.
Yar’Adua urged Nigerians to register at their various wards and revealed that an online membership registration platform would soon be launched to make the process easier for both older and younger citizens.
Hon. Akinlade also formally revalidated Aregbesola as a member of the ADC, after which the former governor commended the committee for its work on the exercise.
In his remarks, Aregbesola called on Nigerians to join the ADC, saying the nation needs a committed political platform capable of ending the growing insecurity, banditry and violent attacks such as the recent church invasion in Kwara State, where worshippers were killed and abducted.
He said the ADC is not a supernatural creation but a party built on the values of character, courage, competence, discipline and integrity, which he noted guide its institutional conduct and political engagement.
According to him, these principles position the party as the credible force needed to steer Nigeria out of its present challenges.
