A traditional ruler in the State of Osun, the Olowu of Kuta Kingdom, Oba Hammed Adekunle Oyelude, Tegbosun III has posited that the achievements of the state Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola is not properly reported by journalists in the state.
The Tegbosun III said this at the 2017 Press Week of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Osun State chapter.
The monarch who was the royal father of the day, Oba Oyelude lamented that as good as Aregbesola’s administration is, the press men has refused to portray the developmental government to the world.
Oyelude said the current government in Osun has brought about development through human empowerment programmes and thereby urged the journalists to support his good course.
“The Government of Aregbesola can be best described as pathfinder and peace setter in Osun.Virtually all Aregbesola’s developmental Programmes, which are borne out of service to humanity and passion for true Democracy, were being replicated and adopted by other states including the Federal Government.
“I urge our journalists to do more in the promotion of good governance. Stop commercializing news, you owe a duty to the public and we expect the best from you.”
In his speech, the Chairmen, NUJ council, Mr. Abiodun Olalere and the Correspondents’ Chapel, Prince Hameed Oyegbade, expressed appreciation to individuals who had made the lecture successful.
