Aregbesola’s Administration Best In Education Investment, Oyetola Has Nothing To Write Home About – Lasun Yusuf
A former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Lasun Yusuf, has rated the administration of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola as the best in terms of education investment in Osun State.
Yusuf made the statement on Monday while appearing on a private TV programme in Osogbo. He also said there was nothing unique about the administration of the immediate past governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola.
According to the former lawmaker, the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress introduced school rehabilitation and provided standard school infrastructure during his time as governor.
“Aregbesola came with an ethical revolution. He wanted to show us how government could be brought closer to the people. He introduced school rehabilitation, and till today, Aregbesola remains the only person who truly attended to schools,” he said.
“Though he got it wrong in the area of wanting to separate the schools, in terms of school infrastructure, Aregbesola achieved the most.”
On the current administration, Yusuf commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for paying the arrears of salaries owed during Aregbesola’s era.
“The half-salary arrears that Adeleke is offsetting now might not seem like a big thing, but it is a very serious matter,” he noted.
When asked why he had not commented on the immediate past administration, the Accord Party chieftain said there was nothing unique to talk about in Oyetola’s tenure.
“When I was rating the other governors, I pointed out things that were unique and original. In the case of Oyetola, there is nothing to write home about,” he added.
