Aregbesola’s Mother Fidau Prayer Reunites Lasun Yusuf, Makinde

By Kehinde Ayantunji

The political feud between the Federal House of Representatives’ Deputy Speaker, Hon
Lasun Yussuf and former House of Representatives Member, from Ife Federal Constituency,  Hon. Rotimi Makinde might have become a thing of the  past with noticeable fusion   on Tuesday at the 8-days Fidau prayer for Alhaja Saratu Aregbesola.

Barely a month ago, the duo publicly shouted against each other at the All Progressive Congress (APC) final Senatorial Campaign for Senator Mudashir Hussein in Iwo and it took the intervention of the Governor, Rauf Aregbesola and the security agents to avert physical combat.

Footages at the campaign ground which went viral online showed Makinde shouting on Lasun and insisted that he must not be recognised at the rally; the action which irritated the deputy speaker but obeyed the governor who persuaded him to stay on the podium.

Makinde made several attempts to prevent Lasun from being recognized by Aregbesola to speak at the campaign rally which held at Baptist High School, Iwo.

But to the surprise of the guests at the fidau prayer on Tuesday, few minutes after the arrival of the deputy speaker who sat closely to the former APC National Interim Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande,  Makinde approached him and had discussion for about two minutes.

But a close aide to the Deputy Speaker told Osun Defender that the duo have resolved the differences after the Osun west Senatorial Bye Election, saying such fusion was a result of reconciliation by the elders.

He said between 2011 and 2015, Makinde and the Deputy Speaker were the closest national assembly members from Osun when Lasun was the Chairman of Omoluabi caucus in the national assembly, but they parted ways after Lasun accepted the offer of the deputy speaker against the wish of the party.

When contacted by Osun Defender over the development, Makinde   through a text message said, “I have no difference with Lasun.”
