Some residents of Osun State have described the suspension of former Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, by the faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) loyal to former governor Gboyega Oyetola as a sign of jittery.
The residents said the move showed that Aregbesola is still relevant in the political space of the state.
They noted that the rise and continued waxing of strength of Aregbesola’s political tendency, Omoluabi Progressives, might be the reason Oyetola directed his lackeys to suspend the former two-term governor of the state.
Speaking with the medium, a resident of Ota-Efun, Osogbo, Bolanle Bada, said the suspension showed the Oyetola’s camp is jittery of Aregbesola’s long-term relevance in the politics of Osun State.

Bada noted that Oyetola and his men might have made the move without thinking deeply, adding that the immediate past governor might be getting the go-ahead from Abuja.
“Isn’t it very funny that the APC in Osun suspended the only person who can change its sinking fortune in the state? The man loved by people and respected by the incumbent governor is being chased out of a party that has nothing tangible to show for the four years Oyetola used as governor. I don’t know what their selling point will be.
“The move only shows that Oyetola and his supporters are jittery,, especially with the level of acceptability of Omoluabi Progressives by politicians and residents.
“Oyetola is just trying to impress those in Abuja because he can see that, as usual, Aregbesola’s name keeps popping up in the political space even though he (Oyetola) is the serving Minister.”
In his submission, Omolola Adebayo, said, “Oyetola should be the one to be suspended if the party knows what it was doing. This is a man who destroyed a winning party. His performance as a governor and as a sitting Minister is nothing to be proud of.
“I hope it won’t be too late before those in Abuja realise that Oyetola is digging the grave of the party deeper in Osun. I don’t know how he still believes those who can’t win their local governments when they are in power will win in 2027. They are a bunch of jokers.”
