A member of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) in Osogbo, State of Osun, Mr Mukaila Adebayo has been killed by two suspected armed robbers.
Mukaila, a 2019 graduate of Banking and Finance from Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, was killed near his shop at Ifeloju Street, Omo-West Area, Osogbo by the suspected armed robbers who shot him on the head after dispossessing him of money, PoS machine and other items in the bag that he was carrying.
He was shot in the presence of his daughter around 11pm on Tuesday. The robbers were said to have fled the scene on a motorcycle.
“The suspected armed robbers might have killed Mukaila because he recognised one of them”, said a source who pleaded anonymity.
The deceased owned a container where he was operating a Point of Sale (POS), selling recharge cards and offering cable subscription.
OSUN DEFENDER gathered that Mukaila was originally posted to Rivers State as a corps member for the2019 Batch C NYSC deployment.
He later sought redeployment to Osun in order to continue his business adventure.
The deceased’s shop, named ‘Delex Communication’ and the shopping complex behind it were both closed when OSUN DEFENDER visited the scene yesterday. Some few grieving people were seeing around the complex.
Some sympathisers were also sighted at the family house of the deceased which was about six houses away to the right side of his shop.
When contacted, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Johnson Kokumo , confirmed the incident and said investigation into the killing had commenced, adding that details available on the matter were still sketchy.
Kokumo, who spoke through the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Folasade Odoro, said: “A full-scale investigation to get the perpetrators had commenced.
“We sympathise with the family of the deceased. We assure the public that no stone will be left unturned in getting to the root of the incident.”
