Artisan Bags 18 Months Imprisonment For Stealing Industrial Machine

 

A Magistrates’ Court setting in Ile-Ife has sentenced a 30-year-old artisan, Toyin Akinyemi to 18 months imprisonment for stealing an industrial machine and other valuable items.
It was gathered Akinyemi committed the offence on May 28, 2021, around 1pm at Modomo area of Ile-Ife.
The prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Osanyintuyi, explained to the court that the convict broke into the house of the complainant, AbdulHammed Toheeb with the intent to commit a felony therein.
He said the convict stole a Hisense plasma TV, industrial machine worth N105,000, a wristwatch N70,000 and a jewellery box.
Other stolen items are; perfumes, a pair of sandals and a power bank.
The offence committed contravened Sections 383, 390 (9), 411 and 412 of the Criminal Code Laws of Osun, 2002.
However, the convict pleaded guilty to the levelled against him.
In her judgement, Magistrate Bose Idowu sentenced Akinyemi to 18 months imprisonment without an option of a fine.
She said the sentence would serve as a deterrent to others who would want to engage in such crimes.
